High school student Kimichika Haijima moves back to his hometown, Fukui, after causing trouble in the Tokyo Junior High School volleyball club. There, he is reunited with his childhood friend, Yunii Kuroba, who possesses outstanding physical abilities, but is vulnerable under pressure. Haijima, with his overwhelming passion and talent for volleyball, forms an ace combination with Kuroba.

The two enroll at Seiin High School, where they the volleyball club. Awaiting them are the cm hot-blooded captain Shinichirou Oda, the talented and sharp-tongued vice-captain Misao Aoki and his third-year pair, and second-year students, including Akito Kanno, who is always wearing long sleeves due to his allergy to sunlight.

The newborn team breaks its former shell of weakness and becomes Fukui's rising star. This is a certain team's journey to victory, with a series of fascinating rivals standing in their Gay volleyball anime. I feel like David productions is doing everything to avoid adapting JoJo part 6. Well I hope that people don't start comparing it to haikyuuu too much because then people will say it is trash since they have the same expectations of it. I've watched the latest Haikyuu episode 4 times already and tried out 1st episode of Harukana Receive too it's tough out here, I'm desperate.

It should be tho. It's the same sport, of course people will compare it, the dialogues, the animation. We wouldn't want it to be the same, but we would want it to be on the same level, I'm sure the people who worked on this anime think the same thing, they know who they r competing with.

The anime could focus on completely different themes tho, I wouldn't know, but imo it's very logical that the two get compared. This is definitely going to get compared to Haikyuu, and most will dismiss it at first if it can't live up to the hype. But why shouldn't they? Like it's not really worth your time if it's not even as good as Haikyuu. If you can't compare an anime about a high school men's volleyball team to an anime about a high school's men's volleyball team than what can you compare in this industry?

From the studio's perspective, you've known about Haikyuu from when this show was getting pitched through to wrapping production.

To set your show in the same setting with the same relatively unpopular sport is to knowingly go up against one of the all time greats in sports anime, if not anime altogether. The comparisons will and should happen because of the inherent similarities, and every shortfall in this new show will be obvious because there is an old show to compare it to that has proven to be amazing.

It's up to the author and studio to distinguish themselves and find a niche. Make the comparison into "Haikyuu is great but this is great in a different way" and not "Haikyuu is great and this is not". It's an incredibly high bar, and I wish them luck.

Wouldn't you compare it to Captain Tsubasa then?

DP made the newest remake of CT and they're both sport anime. Found the internet! Official Media. Posted by. Sort by: best. Dude I'm just glad we get more animated volleyball action. Continue this thread. What separates this from haikyuu? Honestly I feel like this is the only sane take here. Take a shot for everytime someone compares this to Haikyuu. That's extremely unhealthy. Virgin comparing it to haikyuuu vs chad comparing it to jojo.

Why Jojo tho? Bet they're gay.
